Rainbows Showing in the Clouds

I am not above the pressures of life and I've experienced a few bad days lately. Sometimes we have to just set back and count our blessings and thank God that we are allowed this special life to live. The rains have finally began for this season in Florida and the rivers and lakes are beginning to fill. The yards are becoming greener, the flowers are beginning to bloom and the fruit is beginning to bud once again. The rainbows I love to look at are beginning to show themselves in the clouds once again as life for us all continues on. We must keep in tune with our Lord to survive in this world with sin all around us. We must overlook the bad and search out the good things in this life we all live. I find it hard to believe that this year is already half gone. I must spend my time more wisely if I am to accomplish my goals that I have set down for this year. May you all succeed in your goals and your wishes and may the good Lord bless you all though this day and the coming days ahead. Myrna Rae

Special Days

Each day of our individual lives is just a small portion of a series of days. These days make up our total life's existence. A day consists of time we have between waking up and going to sleep. This is approximately sixteen hours per day. Sleeping in on ones day off is very nice sometimes,
but it takes away about one third of our special day. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is the future. There is no guarantee of tomorrow arriving for any of us so today is the time to grasp a stronghold and enjoy each moment of each day. Attack today early with plans and excitement. Fill it with family, friends, hope, joy and peace. Above all else enjoy the love of God and the love for others around us. Today is a Special day. Lets be thankful for it, spend it wisely and enjoy it until it slowly fades away. Have a great and special day today. Myrna Rae

Scripture for the Coming Week Ahead

Proverbs 9:10
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding."
The Bible can be quite hard to understand if you just pick it up and read from any section. The more you read the more you will understand it. Reading the Bible is like watching your favorite movie or reading your favorite novel. The more you watch and read the more you start to notice what you may have missed or forgotten. Daily reading of the Bible will lead to rewarding understanding as now the hand of God is guiding you and filling you with his knowledge and understanding. Proverbs is one of my favorite books of the Bible. It is easy to understand and is full of sayings to start you on the right path. It is a good place to begin if you are starting to read the Bible. God tells us to keep in touch and we will be shown the way to go into your closet to pray. My car is my closet when commuting to and from work. This time is used to communicate with my Lord. God doesn't care how you pick your time God does care about his children constantly keeping in touch. Daily we as Christians must read our Bibles and communicate with our God.
God Bless

Support Your Local Library

I drive 45 minutes daily to get to work. I have been doing this long drive for many years now. I have considered many times getting a job closer to home, but I like my job. I have a tip on how to shorten a long drive to work and even make it enjoyable. The answer is audio books! Audio books are available at your local library and they are free to use. Some of the audio books that I enjoy are Autobiographies, Dramas and Christian Stories. The library has hundreds of audio books to choice from. A few times I was so into the audio book that I was listening to that I forget to start working. I have been an avid reader for many years and enjoy the library. I have donated books and movies. I do not even mind the small charge if I bring back items late, the library is worth it. At the library you can check out books, movies and audio books for free. If you have extra time the library usually has local and major newspapers, current magazines and posted events in your community all free. If you have extra books and movies that are collecting dust donate them to your local library and encourage other to do the same. Myrna Rae

Respect Your Elders

I learned from a very young age to respect the elderly and do what you are told. When I was a young girl there was a big pasture between my two sets of grandparents farm homes. When I walked from one home to another I had to walk a long way around, as I was not allowed in the pasture. The pasture is where my grandfather kept his hogs. One sunny day when I was about seven years young I had to use the restroom. I had two choices I could use the outhouse* (see link below) which was full of nasty spiders and bugs or cut across the pasture and use the restroom inside the house. I had to go really bad so I took off across the pasture. I started across this huge pasture when a big sow nursing her young spotted me. The sow got up from nursing and started charging right at me. I began to scream and ran as fast as my young legs would carry me toward my grandparents house out of the pasture. I was lucky my grandfather was in the barn not far from the pasture and heard my screams. My grandfather had stopped the sow, but the only thing I remember is being cradled in my grandmother's arms. While cradled in my grandmothers arms I noticed I had wet myself from the fright of this bad decision I made. I learned fast from this to respect others and do what I was told. My behavior was much better after this experience and to this day I must say I have no fondness for big hogs. Listen and respect others as we go through the day. God Bless.

Saving Money Going Green

First, I am not a tree hugging Liberal type like most of my friends I just like making some extra cash. There are many ways to be eco-friendly and save some green that do not interfere with your daily routine. I have three that I like to share that make/save me about $30 to $40 dollars a month, that could be $480 a year.
1. Get rid of those 1950's era light bulbs and invest in modern fluorescent light bulbs. Yes, they do cost more, but I have not changed a light bulb in 18 months and they use less electricity. Unplug that stuff! Unplug TVs, cell phone chargers and computers. Anything that you can turn off you can unplug from the wall just as easy. Most all electronic devices pull a little electricity even turned off.
2. Recycling doesn’t just keep waste out of landfills; it can be another source of income. I never buy glass bottled anything. Everything I buy to drink is in aluminium cans (except milk and water). I serve drinks in glass or plastic cups, that I clean and reuse, when serving drinks to my friends and party guests. I have even been know to take a bag to parties and collect cans. Once a month I take these cans to the recycling center and they give me cash. Why give your money to the city with weekly trash and recycling collection; turn those cans in yourself.
3. Collect rain water. I like my cool plants. Most people have plants and waste alot of money to keep them looking good. Rain water has large amounts of that magic ingredient plants love, nitrogen. Most well water and city water has very little nitrogen unless you got some strange runoff going on. Use rain water on your plants, it keeps them healthy and saves money on replacing them and buying those store bought fertilizers. Written by James Reynolds

Scripture for the Coming Week

Proverbs Chapter 22 Verse 6
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Raising children today is a tough job. Both parents usually need to go out of the home to earn money in this tough economy. With tough times comes broken homes and sometimes a even divorces, which only causes problems for our youths young minds. Whatever time you have with your children you should use it wisely and teach them to love and respect others. I was blessed as a young child to have had two Christian parents and two sets of Christian grandparents. They were patient with me and their Christian beliefs helped form me and my positive thinking on life. I feel that sports are great for children, keeps them active and into something good. All we can do is to try are best and our best usually works just fine.

Coupons -- Are They Worth the Trouble?

I had a shopping experience today that may interest you. I have never been one to search for or use coupons. I always think that I am to busy. I just go to the store each week and get what I need and home again. I got a flyer in the mail from a local grocery store and decided to make use of it. I made a list of the 2 for 1's, the $1.00 items and cut out the coupons. The next day off to the store I went. I arrived at this very crowded store and got myself in line for the items that I have on my list. I found myself spending alot of time looking for each and every one. Some of these bargains brands were close to the more expensive brands and I had to be careful to get the correct items. I found myself spending twice the time that I ever need for my weekly shopping, but I continued on with my quest and finally arrived at the check out with 2 full carts in front of me. When my turn came, I began to load my food onto the area provided for this and I grabbed a bottle of dish detergent, squeezing it to tightly and the lid flew open. I then had soapy liquid running down my arm and dripping off of my fingers. Paper towels were handed to me and I managed to get it mostly cleaned off. The checker didn't look at my coupons ahead of time and took forever figuring them out. Meanwhile the lady in line behind me was getting very impatient. I finally got out to my car, filled my trunk and sat down in my car to look at the receipt. I had just paid $101 and had saved $56. Was it worth the trouble? Yes, I believe that it was. I will continue to search for bargains in the coming weeks now and continue to try to save on the grocery bills. So will I do this again? Sure why not. We need to spend our money as wisely as possible in today's world.
